The Campaign for Socialism condemns the expulsion of George Galloway
MP for his outspoken views on Iraq.
Rather than bring the Labour Party into disrepute, Galloway's anti war
stance and his advocacy of a viable peace in the Middle East has the support
of millions of people throughout Britain.
The decision further alienates the Left of the Labour Party and in Scotland
in particular, will only offer comfort to Labour's enemies. Nor will the
Scottish Labour Left be intimidated or silenced by this decision.
The New Labour Leadership in Scotland and the rest of Britain can only
expect intensified opposition to its policies and those whose advocate
them.
The Campaign for Socialism supports the call by the The Socialist Campaign
Group for an emergency meeting of the NEC to overturn this contemptible
decision and reinstate George Galloway with immediate effect.
